Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 slices American cheese
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 4 slices tomato
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Warm up the grill over medium-high heat
Shape the ground beef into 4 burger patties that are all the same size
On both sides of each patty, sprinkle salt and pepper
For medium-rare, grill the patties for about 4 to 5 minutes on each side
You can cook them longer if you want them more done
Put a slice of cheese on each patty and let it melt in the last minute of grilling
While the patties are cooking, toast the buns until they are just barely golden on the grill
In a small bowl, mix the ketchup and mayonnaise to make the burger sauce
Spread the sauce on the bottom half of each bun before putting the burgers together
On top of the sauce, put a lettuce leaf and a tomato slice
Cover the vegetables with the cooked patty and melt the cheese on top of it
Place the top half of the bun on top of the patty and then sprinkle chopped onions on top of that
Warm it up and serve with your favorite sides
